In the modern world it can be very difficult to get some alone time. Even when we are not around others, we are still connected by those little rectangle slabs we keep in our pockets.
Well now you can isolate yourself from the world anywhere and anytime, thanks to the portable Danbocchi, (as long as you remember to switch your phone off).
The ordinary-looking cardboard box is very Japanese in concept. The box is soundproofed up to 30 decibels, meaning no sound can get in, and should the need take you, you can scream all that pent up aggression away without anyone hearing, (and becoming concerned).
However, while we are making fun and suggesting that the box is used to escape the stress of everyday existence, we are in fact teasing.
The Danbocchi is actually designed for people who like to practice their karaoke or play video games at high volume without disturbing their neighbors, (again essentially very Japanese in concept).
With the over-crowding of our cities and paper-thin walls in your typical apartment block, this could really catch on.
You want to blast away on your PS4 late at night – no problem, just step inside, close the door, and be as loud as you can, (or go out and buy a decent pair of headphones).
According to the Danbocchi official site, the box can reduce a 90 decibel sound down to 60.
And while the Danbocchi is not cheap, (it is currently on sale for ¥59,800 or $600) if you really are a noisy neighbour, you might be able to bribe the residents next door to pitch in. After all, everyone is a winner with one of these.
